Adani Enterprises Limited has initiated ground survey and geotechnical investigation works for the Bengaluru Twin Tunnel Road project, marking a significant development in the city’s controversial infrastructure initiative.

B.S. Prahallad, Technical Director of B-SMILE, emphasized the importance of such surveys, stating that they provide a better understanding of the project’s challenges and implementation requirements.
While the contract has not yet been awarded, Prahallad confirmed that any bidder is free to conduct these surveys, which are crucial for a project of this scale.
Project Background
The Bengaluru Twin Tunnel Road project aims to decongest the city, particularly its central parts, and has been championed by Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
The project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) was prepared using initial assessments, desk studies, and remote sensing inputs, but further in-depth analysis is required for the project’s execution.
Investigations and Analyses
The DPR stated that the implementing agency should provide all necessary analyses, including intrusive investigations, to the prospective bidder.
However, the responsibility for in-depth analysis was placed on the bidder, and Adani Enterprises has now obtained permission from multiple departments to conduct survey and geotechnical investigation works.
Four companies have been authorized to carry out the required tests and analyses, including geotechnical investigation, core drilling, utility mapping, and topographical surveys.
- Geotechnical investigation and core drilling will be conducted by a Pune-based company.
- Utility mapping will be carried out by a Delhi-based company.
- Topographical surveys will be undertaken by a Haryana-based firm.
- A Mumbai-based company will also conduct geotechnical works.
These investigations are essential for the planning and execution of the project, and Adani Enterprises has stressed their importance for the project’s success.
