Kerala’s New Government Takes Shape
Today marks a significant day in Kerala’s political history as V.D. Satheesan, the Chief Minister-designate, is set to take oath along with his cabinet. The ceremony, which is being attended by prominent leaders including Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, is expected to be a grand affair with thousands of supporters gathering at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
Ministerial Berths Announced
The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has been allocated five ministerial berths in the United Democratic Front (UDF) Cabinet, with ministers-designate named by state president Syed Sadiq Ali Thangal. Meanwhile, K Muraleedharan, who has been allocated the Health and Devaswom portfolios, has promised to upgrade the state’s healthcare infrastructure and wipe out corruption in state-owned temples.
A large pavilion has been set up at the Central Stadium to accommodate the enthusiastic crowds, with security personnel and anti-sabotage teams manning the gates. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and will be presided over by Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan.
UDF Workers Gather in Large Numbers
UDF workers from across the state have gathered in Thiruvananthapuram to witness the swearing-in ceremony, with many lining up outside the stadium hours before the event. The police have placed barricades on roads leading to the stadium to control the flow of people, and a massive pavilion has been erected to accommodate nearly 30,000 people.
