India and Norway have taken a significant step forward in their bilateral relations, upgrading their ties to a Green Strategic Partnership.
During a meeting in Oslo, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of a rules-based order, dialogue, and diplomacy in resolving global conflicts. They discussed the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia, with Mr. Modi highlighting the need for an early end to these conflicts.
Key Areas of Cooperation
The two leaders outlined several key areas of cooperation, including green shipping, the blue economy, energy security, and food security. They also discussed the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) signed last year, which aims to create $100 billion in investment and one million jobs in India.

Mr. Støre acknowledged that there are differences between India and Norway, but emphasized the importance of working through them to promote a rules-based order. He also highlighted Norway’s commitment to providing alternative supplies of oil and gas to India.
The two leaders also signed several agreements, including a Triangular Development Cooperation to help Global South countries, as well as MoUs in areas such as health, space, and digital public infrastructure partnerships.
