Union Ministers Unveil Game-Changing Infrastructure Project
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently launched the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway, a 63-kilometer stretch that promises to revolutionize travel between the two cities. The project is expected to significantly reduce travel time, making it possible to cover the distance in just 40 minutes.
Advanced Technology for Enhanced Safety and Efficiency
The Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway boasts cutting-edge technology, including automated machine guidance systems and a Multi-Lane Free Flow tolling system. The latter allows vehicles to travel at speeds of up to 120 kmph without stopping, with toll charges deducted automatically through FASTag and Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology. The expressway is also equipped with over 80 high-definition cameras, 16 Video Incident Detection Systems, and speed radars to ensure maximum safety.
The project has been in the making for several years, with the foundation stone laid in March 2019. The Union government accorded it the status of National Expressway-6 in December 2020, recognizing its importance in providing world-class connectivity between Lucknow and Kanpur. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) divided the project into two packages, with PNC Infratech entrusted with the task of completing the work.
Key Features and Benefits
- Reduced Travel Time: The expressway is expected to cut travel time between Lucknow and Kanpur from over two hours to just 40 minutes.
- Advanced Technology: The project features automated machine guidance systems, Multi-Lane Free Flow tolling, and advanced safety measures, including high-definition cameras and speed radars.
- Improved Connectivity: The expressway will provide world-class connectivity between Lucknow and Kanpur, facilitating the movement of goods and people.
According to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the project was completed despite several challenges, including dense population, traffic, and land acquisition. The use of modern technology and innovative construction methods ensured the successful completion of the project.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath thanked the Union Ministers for their support and congratulated the people of the state on the inauguration of the expressway. He emphasized that the project is a testament to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has consistently emphasized the importance of good governance, excellent security, and world-class infrastructure.
