Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda Gives Directions
Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has given instructions to officials in Hassan district to speed up the processing of applications under the Darkhast Podi campaign. This initiative aims to formally demarcate agricultural lands that were granted to farmers several decades ago.
After a review meeting with district officers, the Minister stated that land measurement had been completed for 24,000 cases, and another 20,000 cases are currently in progress. However, some cases have discrepancies between the recorded land extent and the actual claimed land, requiring physical inspections.
Discrepancies and Pending Cases
The Minister has directed officers to begin these inspections without delay. Additionally, around 25,000 cases are pending due to the lack of mandatory supporting documents. The Minister has instructed officers to process cases where at least two of the required records are available, following scrutiny by a committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner.
According to the Minister, around 50,000 families who received land grants decades ago will receive their podi documents through this drive. The Minister also reviewed the progress of disposing of applications received during Janaspandana, a public grievances redressal programme.
- A total of 4,538 applications were received during Janaspandana, held at four taluk centres.
- Out of these, 4,444 have been disposed of, and the remaining 94 will be disposed of soon.
The meeting was attended by Hassan MP Shreyas M. Patel, Deputy Commissioner K.S. Lathakumari, Zilla Panchayat CEO Shubham Shukla, SP Shubhanwita, and others. The Minister’s instructions are expected to expedite the disposal of applications and bring relief to the affected families.
