The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched a nationwide crackdown on those suspected of involvement in the NEET paper leak, with search operations conducted at the residences of three students in Nagpur and Chandrapur. The agency has also taken a tutor from Latur into custody, as part of its investigation into the alleged leak of NEET biology and chemistry papers.
A case has been registered by the Economic Offences Wing of the CBI in New Delhi, and the agency is suspecting that around one thousand students may have purchased the leaked paper. On Monday, the CBI took into custody Prof. Shivraj Motegaonkar, the director of ‘RCC Classes’ in Latur.
Search Operations and Seizures
On Tuesday, CBI teams carried out search operations in Nagpur, following information received about mobile phone numbers of some students in the city. A team from New Delhi, along with CBI personnel in Nagpur, raided the houses of two students from Nagpur and one student from Brahmapuri taluka in Chandrapur district. Documents and notes were seized from the premises, which are being checked for any match with the leaked paper.
The agency is investigating whether the three students purchased the paper or forwarded it to others. The CBI is also examining if these students were part of a larger group that bought the paper in a fraud. The probe is still ongoing, with search operations being conducted at places across the country.
