Zetu, the newest addition to Delhi’s culinary scene, is a 175-seater restaurant nestled in the heart of Mehrauli. This contemporary Sri Lankan eatery offers an immersive dining experience, with its majestic 500-year-old banyan tree, lush greenery, and tropical architecture inspired by the legendary Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa.
A Story of Flavors
The founders, Sarah Nikahetiya, Anurag Dania, Abhishek Mathur, and Sagar Garg, have crafted a menu that tells a story of Sri Lankan flavors, with dishes inspired by actual home kitchens and street corners. Chef Dush Ratnayake from Sri Lanka leads the culinary team, while Indian chefs Mohit Kumar and Romil Malhotra bring their luxury hotel training to the table.
The meal begins with the choon paan butter flight, a trio of flavored butters served with baked bread, paying homage to India, the sea, and Sri Lanka. The garden after monsoon dish follows, with paper-thin wraps of cucumber enveloping creamy Danish cheese, paired with watermelon spheres in a passion fruit vinaigrette.
Cocktails and Desserts
The cocktails at Zetu are a highlight, with the frangipani Martini and kandyan Negroni showcasing Sri Lankan ingredients and flavor profiles. The guava tart, baked with a delicate lemon curd and raisin puree, is a refreshing end to the meal.
