Congress Stages Massive Protest Against Fuel Price Hike
Citizens are reeling under the weight of skyrocketing fuel prices, and the Congress party is leaving no stone unturned in voicing their discontent. On Tuesday, a sea of protesters took to the streets, condemning the steep hike in petrol, diesel, and LPG prices. The protest march, which began at the District Congress Bhavan, culminated in a dramatic blockade at Annapurna Cross, bringing traffic to a grinding halt.
Leaders Launch Scathing Attack on BJP-Led Government
GESCOM Chairman Praveen Patil Haravaala pulled no punches as he lambasted the Union government, terming it anti-people and anti-women. He argued that the Modi government’s rhetoric on creating a smoke-free nation rings hollow, given that the exorbitant LPG prices are forcing women to revert to cooking with firewood. Meanwhile, Congress leader Kiran Deshmukh posed a series of pointed questions, seeking to know where the taxes collected from the oil companies have disappeared.
Another Congress leader, Subhash Rathod, lamented that the relentless rise in fuel prices has turned daily life into a struggle for ordinary citizens. The Congress is determined to raise its voice on behalf of these people, he asserted, vowing to fight the Modi-Amit Shah brand of vendetta politics tooth and nail. The protest saw a slew of prominent leaders in attendance, including Youth Congress district president Shakeel Ahmed Sardagi, women’s wing president Renuka Singe, and several others.
