Fatal Road Accident in Chhattisgarh
A 24-year-old Mumbai resident, Riddhi Divyesh Thakkar, lost her life in a tragic road accident in Chhattisgarh’s Balod district on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Thakkar was part of a group of 20 bikers on a tour from Raipur to Bastar when the incident occurred.

According to Balod Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan, Thakkar was struck by an unidentified vehicle, possibly a truck, near Markatola Ghat, resulting in severe leg injuries. She was rushed to a community health centre and later referred to Shriram Hospital in Dhamtari, where she succumbed to her injuries.
A post-mortem examination is being conducted at the District Hospital in Dhamtari, and the incident site falls under the jurisdiction of the Purur police station, where an FIR will be registered. The driver of the errant vehicle has not been identified yet.
The group of bikers, comprising individuals from various parts of Maharashtra, had embarked on a tour from Nagpur to Raipur and were en route to Bastar when the accident occurred. Following the incident, the fellow bikers returned home.
